About the Competition
It’s time for Sask CU Advance 2.0!
We’re searching for emerging credit union leaders with ideas to advance Saskatchewan’s credit unions. More than $4,000 in prizes will be awarded, plus the recognition you’ll receive as someone that is advancing Saskatchewan’s credit unions. Saskatchewan Young Leaders have partnered with Currency to manage this dynamic competition.
1. Entries:
April 3 – April 21
We’re looking for emerging credit union leaders, age 35 and under, with ideas to advance Saskatchewan’s credit unions. This competition will allow Saskatchewan’s young credit union professionals to flex their creative muscles and show Saskatchewan’s credit unions what they are capable of!
To enter, simply complete the entry form on our web site with the approval of your supervisor. From there you will be placed into a group of 3-4 people, where the real collaboration begins!
ENTRY DEADLINE EXTENDED UNTIL APRIL 28!
2. Groups:
MAY 1 – JULY 14
Once the entry period closes, the SYL Committee will assemble groups based on criteria such as age, position, location, Credit Union, etc. On May 1, the groups will be announced and assigned a System Opportunity. From there, each group will choose a name for their group and work together to produce a digital submission including but not limited to a two- to three-minute YouTube video, a 500-2,000 word submission, or a 5-15 slide PowerPoint presentation.
SYL committee members will be available to facilitate groups throughout the contest.
3. Vote:
JULY 18 – JULY 24
All group submissions will be posted on the website. Members of the credit union system and the general public will vote for their favourite submission. The group with the highest number of votes will be named the People’s Choice, and earn entry into our Finalist stage.
4. Finalists Announced:
July 28
The People’s Choice winner will join two other groups selected by the SYL Committee in our Finalist phase. Groups will continue to make progress on their project.
Group members are encouraged to produce an additional written submission, of up to 500 words, detailing the progress of their project. Additional submissions will be shared with the judging panel of CEOs, managers, and Young Leaders to further evaluate the Finalists.
The Finalists will also be encouraged to share their posts through their own online social circles. This is a great opportunity for these emerging leaders to engage with, and to learn from, like-minded members of the credit union system.
5. Finalist Presentations:
August 21 – august 23
All Finalist groups will come together August 21 – 23 at the 2017 SYL Leadership Retreat. Each group will have ten minutes to present their project to the judging panel/retreat audience, followed by five minutes of questions from the judges.
After the presentations, the judges will submit their completed score sheets to choose a winner and runners-up. Each group will be given a combined scored consisting of 15% collaboration within the group, 20% analysis of alternatives, 20% recommended decision, 25% implementation plan, and 20% presentation effectiveness.
6. Sask CU Advance 2.0 Winner Named:
August 23
On August 23 before the conclusion of the Retreat, the winner and runners-up of Sask CU Advance 2.0 will be declared.
