The 2013 Competition
We’re searching for emerging credit union leaders with ideas to advance Saskatchewan’s credit unions. Almost $5,000 in prizes will be awarded, plus the recognition you’ll receive as someone that is advancing Saskatchewan’s credit unions. Saskatchewan Young Leaders have partnered with Currency Marketing to manage this dynamic competition.
1. Applications:
July 26–September 30
We’re
looking for emerging credit union leaders, age 35 and under, with ideas to
advance Saskatchewan’s credit unions. This competition will allow Saskatchewan’s
young credit union professionals to flex their creative muscles and show Saskatchewan’s
credit unions what they are capable of!
To enter,
produce a two- to three-minute YouTube video submission or write a 300-500 word
submission. With either entry method, the content should include information
about your role at your credit union, any relevant professional accomplishments
and a pitch about a current project or program that you are working on at your
credit union. You can also pitch an idea to advance your credit union or the
credit union industry. We put together some topic suggestions to get you started.
2. Voting for finalists: October 2–October 15
Members
of the credit union system and the general public will vote for their favourite
applicant. The three (3) applicants with the most votes will move on.
3. Three
finalists announced: October 16
The
results from the public vote will be tabulated and the three highest-ranking
applicants will be named as Finalists. Finalists are encouraged to produce an
additional video or written submission detailing the progress of their project,
but it is not mandatory. Additional submissions will be posted on the Sask CU Advance news page and
will help the general public and our judging panel of Peer Group CEOs further
evaluate the Finalists.
The
Finalists will also be encouraged to share their posts through their own online
social circles. This is a great opportunity for these emerging leaders to
engage with, and to learn from, like-minded members of the credit union system.
Between
the announcement date and the date of the Finalist presentations, each of the
three Finalists will receive mentoring from either an executive at their credit
union or from a member of Credit Union Central of Canada’s National Young Leaders Committee.
4. The finalist presentations: November 5
All three
Finalists will come together November 5, 2013, at the Peer Group meeting in
Regina. Each Finalist will have ten (10) minutes to present the results and
progress or planning of their project to the judging panel/conference audience,
followed by five (5) minutes of questions from the floor. After all
three presentations, conference attendees will vote for their favourite
Finalist on the spot and the public will be able to vote online November 6-7. Each
Finalist will be given a combined score consisting of 67% CEO Peer Group judges
scores and 33% online votes.
5. Sask
CU Advance winner named: November 8
On November
8, the Finalist with the highest combined score will be declared the winner of
Sask CU Advance.
