Thanks to all of those who attended our Pride Lunch & Learn Event on June 27th, 2022.
Below are some of the follow-up resources that we had previously sent out to our registrants and wanted to share out to our wider community.
Happy Pride Month from SYL!
OUTSaskatoon has a whole library of resources available to the public. We have selected a couple to share here (and thanks to panelist Krystal and the OUTSaskatoon team for their help with this):
- Identities and Language: An intro to terminology and definitions and why they are important.
- Allies and Solidarity: Tips on how to be a better ally.
- 2SLGBTQ+ Discrimination and Stigma: Overview of challenges and oppressions that the community faces.
More resources from them can be found here: https://www.outsaskatoon.ca/resource-library/
As discussed in the session, intersectionality is a deeper discussion and how it affects members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community is immense.

Some links to training for conversations and interactions, both in and out of the workplace:
- Right to Be (formally “Hollaback): Offers free training and resources in areas like mitigating bias and bystander intervention, for example.
- Pride at Work Canada: A best practices guide for employers across Canada that was produced.
- Customer Service & De-Escalation Training: One of the areas of training offered by CAMH (Canadian Association for Mental Health)
Some other helpful documents:
- Pride Participation – FAQ’s, from Coast Capital for staff, with info for staff to have during Pride month (thanks to panelist Ryan!)
- The Diefenbaker Centre of Canada put together an online historical resource of Pride on the Prairies.
