Official Rules
No purchase necessary. This search competition is void in whole or in part where prohibited by law. To complete your entry you must read and agree to the following rules. Participation in this search competition constitutes full and unconditional agreement and acceptance of these rules. All dollar amounts are in Canadian funds. The search competition is presented by Saskatchewan Young Leaders (SYL) (the “Presenter”).
The Sask CU Advance Competition (the “Competition”) runs from July 26 to November 6, 2013. SYL has the right to change the dates.
Phase One: The Search
A. Application Period:
We’re looking for young credit union professionals based in Saskatchewan, age 35 and under who have not yet reached the CEO level to apply.
Any Saskatchewan credit union employee is eligible to apply.
The application period begins at 10:00 a.m. on July 26, 2013 and ends at 5:00 p.m. on September 30, 2013. Applications received after that time will not be eligible to move forward in the Competition, unless otherwise specified by SYL.
All applicants, if chosen as a Finalist, must be willing and able to travel to the Peer Group meeting on November 5 in Regina to do an in-person presentation.
B. Eligibility Criteria:
This Competition is open only to employees of credit unions who are age 35 or under. They must be based in Saskatchewan.
C. How to Enter:
To enter go to www.SaskCUAdvance.com (the Saskatchewan Credit Union Advance website) during the Application Period and fully complete an online application form and upload your application video or written submission by following the instructions there. The application period starts at 10:00 a.m. on July 26, 2013 and ends at 5:00 p.m. on September 30, 2013. Submissions received after that time will not be eligible to move forward in the Competition, unless otherwise specified by SYL.
Notice: You must comply with the following rules if you submit an application and upload a video. Do not do anything in connection with creating your video that might endanger anyone, including yourself, or which could cause damage to property or your application. This may result in your video being disqualified.
Entry must consist of:
- A fully completed application form
- A short video (we recommend 2:00-3:00 minutes, with a maximum of 5:00 minutes allowed) OR
- A short written submission (we recommend 300-500 words, with a maximum of 2,000 allowed)
- Videos or written submissions should include information about you, your role at your credit union and a pitch about a current project or program that you are working on at your credit union. You can also pitch an idea that you have to advance your credit union or the credit union system.
Your entry submission must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible:
- Meet the technical specifications required for it to be uploaded to, and received by, the contest website by the end of the application phase.
- Not contain any language or images or content that conflicts with any of the Presenter’s core values, or otherwise be objectionable (as determined by the Presenter in their sole discretion).
- Not contain any content that violates any law or any third party’s rights (including trademark, copyright, privacy and intellectual property rights).
- Be submitted in English.
In the event of a dispute, applications shall be deemed to be submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the entry (the “Applicant”).
All applications are subject entirely to the discretion of the Presenter, whose decisions are final. Each entry that meets the criteria above and that is submitted in accordance with these Rules, will become eligible for Phase Two: Selection Period.
Only one entry per person will be accepted. Multiple entries will be disqualified. Chances of winning depend on the number and skill level of Applicants.
Phase Two: Selection Period
The Phase Two: Selection Period will begin following the application phase.
D. Identifying the Finalists:
All video and written submissions will be posted on www.SaskCUAdvance.com for public review and voting. Only one vote per legitimate email address is allowed.
The vote period begins at 12:01 p.m. on October 2, 2013 and ends at 3:00 p.m. on October 15, 2013.
The three (3) applicants with the most votes will be declared the Finalists and will be notified via email.
The Finalists will be named on the website and through social media on October 16, 2013.
If a Finalist cannot continue as a Finalist, the Presenter retains the rights to offer the spot to another contestant.
E. Determining the Sask CU Advance Winner:
All Finalists will come together November 5, 2013, at Sask Central’s Peer Group meeting in Regina. On the afternoon of Tuesday, November 5, each Finalist will have a maximum of 10 minutes to present the results and progress or planning of their project to the conference audience. Each presentation will be followed with up to 5 minutes of questions from the audience.
After the presentations, a judging panel of Peer Group CEOs attending the conference will vote for their favorite Finalist. Additionally the public will vote for their favourite Finalist online throughout Wednesday and Thursday. The vote period begins at 12:00 p.m. on November 6, 2013 and ends at 5:00 p.m. on November 7, 2013. Only one vote per legitimate email address is allowed. A blended score of the judging panel scores and online votes will determine the winner.
On Friday November 8, the 2013 Sask CU Advance Winner will be announced on the website and through social media.
Phase Three: Awarding the Prizes
F. Prizes:
For the three Finalists
Each of the three Finalists will receive a mentoring session prior to their final presentation. The mentor may be an executive in the Finalists’ own credit union or a member of the National Young Leaders program.
For the two Sask CU Advance Runners-Up
The two Runners-up will each receive a $250 gift card of their choice, as well as complementary registration for the 2014 SYL conference.
For the Sask CU Advance Winner
The winner of the Sask CU Advance competition will receive a $3,500 educational stipend, as well as complementary registration for the 2014 SYL conference.
Prizes must be accepted as awarded and are not transferable. Prizes are not redeemable for cash. If a potential winner cannot accept the Prize as awarded, his or her entry will be forfeited and another eligible contestant may be selected. Any costs associated with accepting the Prize shall be the sole responsibility of the winner.
Other Matters that are Important to Read
G. Conditions of Participation:
By entering this Competition, the Applicant certifies and acknowledges that:
- The video submitted is original work and that he or she is the creator.
- He or she has agreed that the video, all images and ideas submitted with this application are being submitted on a non-confidential basis and may be edited and posted to a website or used in other marketing and advertising materials without compensation.
- The Applicant is permitted to disclose the video and all images contained therein to the Presenter for its use and the video, images and ideas shall become the property of the Presenter on submission.
- Submission of the video and any images and content may impact the Applicant’s legal rights to protect them.
- All trademarks and copyrighted material have been properly acknowledged in the application.
The Applicant acknowledges that the Presenter or any of its affiliates or subsidiaries may already be in the process of independent development and innovation for various products and services and therefore any disclosure of information or ideas submitted by the Applicant may not be new to the Presenter or its affiliates or subsidiaries and would not affect or impair its proprietary rights to its own innovation.
Entrants named as one of the three Finalists agree to attend the Peer Group meeting on November 5 in Saskatoon to do an in-person presentation.
H. Assignment of Rights to Submission:
By entering this Competition, you irrevocably and exclusively assign all copyright, without limitation of time, place, medium, support or language, in the video to the Presenter and waive all legal and moral rights to the video in favor of the Presenter. Accordingly, you acknowledge that the Presenter will have the unrestricted and exclusive right to use the video for any purpose, including but not limited to, publishing it in an electronic form on the Sask CU Advance website for promotional purposes without further compensation. The Presenter also has the right to (but is not required to) use your name, image, likeness, age, and biographical information and credit union name in credit along with the video. You confirm that you are the sole author of the video and that you own all rights to it and are able to fully assign all rights to the Presenter as contemplated above. You agree to compensate the Presenter should any claims arise out of the use of the video by the Presenter.
As a condition of accepting a Prize in this Competition, the winner agrees to a Declaration of Compliance with Rules and an Assignment, Release and Indemnity, assigning all rights to the video submission to the Presenter, including all copyrights and moral rights and releasing SYL, its affiliates and respective advertising and promotions agencies from any liability in connection with this Competition or the Prizes awarded.
I. No responsibility is assumed by the Presenter, its respective affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies, its respective directors, officers, employees and assigns, for any disruption to telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software or failure of any entry to be received because of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof, as well as lost, incomplete, destroyed, misdirected, illegible or late entries which for any reason are not received.
J. Submissions shall not be returned to participants.
K. No Prize substitutions will be made, except for the right of the Presenter to make a Prize substitution of equivalent or greater value in the event the Prize, or any portion thereof, is unavailable for any reason.
L. The Presenter reserves the right to modify or cancel this Competition at any time including, without limitation, in the event of technical corruption, virus, bugs, non-authorized human intervention or any other technical problems, which may arise from time-to-time beyond the control of the Presenter, destroying the integrity of this Competition. No liability or responsibility is assumed by the Presenter, resulting from user attempts to participate in this Competition or if required, download any information necessary to participate in this Competition. In the event of a dispute regarding who submitted an online entry, the entry will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry.
M. By entering this Competition, participants agree to hold the Presenter, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies, their respective directors, officers, employees and assigns, harmless from and against any and all claims and liability arising out of or in any way connected with the operation of this Competition and use of a Prize. Participants of this Competition assume all liability for any injury or damage caused, or claimed to be caused, by participation in this Competition or use or redemption of a Prize. By participating in this Competition, entrants agree to be bound by the Rules and the decisions of the Competition judges, which are final.
N. The Presenter reserves the right to disqualify any individual whom it finds to be in violation of these official Rules or tampering with the entry or vote process. The Presenter reserves the right to refuse an entry from a person whose eligibility is in question or who has been disqualified or is otherwise ineligible to enter.
O. This Competition and these Rules, shall be exclusively governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the province of Saskatchewan.
P. Any litigation must be initiated in Saskatchewan.
Q. Privacy Statement: By entering this Competition, each entrant also consents to SYL, its agents and/or representatives, storing, using and disclosing the information submitted or provided with each entry for the purpose of administering this Competition and the prize in accordance with SYL’s privacy policy www.SaskCentral.com.
R. Caution: Any attempt to deliberately damage any web site or interfere with the legitimate operation of the search competition may be a violation of criminal and civil laws, and the sponsor reserves the right to seek damages and/or other relief from all responsible persons to the fullest extent permitted by law.
