Let us introduce you to our member at large, Meghan Fossenier! This is Meghan’s second year with SYL, and we are lucky to have her. Meghan is with TCU Financial Group in Saskatoon and is an Account Manager. When she isn’t busy working or running after her kids you can find her in the great outdoors.
Tell us about you and your Credit Union journey. How did you get to where you are now?
After working at one of the big banks in the city for a couple years I really noticed how my thoughts and ideas went no where. I was tired at being a numbered employee, so when a friend of mine suggested I apply at the credit union as the environment was completely different I gave it a shot. It was one of the best changes I could have made. I enjoy the team work, collaboration and being recognized as an individual. I have worked through several different roles at TCU and sincerely have grown to appreciate the people by my side. There is a lot of value in making connections with your co-workers and I certainly appreciate not only what they have taught me but more importantly their friendship.
Why did you join SYL?
I joined SYL as a result of my manager’s encouragement. I have worked on many different projects at TCU, I was looking for more ways to expand my leadership and I have always enjoyed a challenge. I also tell myself to do things that scare me to help expand my skill sets. Applying for the committee instinctively brought out some fear responses in me which is exactly why I applied and thankfully was accepted.
What are you most proud of so far in your SYL journey?
This years in person retreat and how we all worked together to make it a success. After not having in person retreats for a couple of years there were some new learnings for the team putting it together. It was certainly overwhelming at times thinking of all the small details that needed to be arranged however we worked well as a team and pulled it off. Way to go us!
